LIP BLUSH
PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Beginning 5-7 days before your visit, please use a daily, gentle lip exfoliating treatment (like a sugar scrub!) and a rich lip balm to prep your lips and help them be in the best shape for tattooing.

DIY sugar scrub

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp honey

Combine ingredients in small jar, stir until mixed.  Apply a small amount to your finger, and gently rub into lips.  Continue rubbing gently for 1 minute, then rinse with warm water.

YOU ARE NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIP BLUSH IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APPLY:

  • If you are prone to cold sores, herpes, or fever blisters,  you will need an antiviral prescription. Physicians usually instructs to begin taking it 3 days before procedure, for a 7-10 day course. BBPDX recommends 3 days before, day of, and 2-3 days after. You may be asked for proof of prescription. You may still get cold sores from the trauma of the procedure.

  • If you have skin irritation or any blemishes within 1 inch of the lips, appointment will likely be rescheduled by technician until completely clear.

  • NO BOTOX or Cosmetic Filler for 4 weeks before or after appointment.

  • Discontinue Vitamin A and Retinol products for 1 month prior to appointment.

  • Discontinue Accutane 12 months prior to appointment.

  • Avoid Alcohol, Caffiene, Pre-Workouts, and Energy Drinks for 24-48 hours prior to appointment.

  • Avoid all blood thinning medications/supplements for 7 days prior to your appointment.

  • **ALWAYS consult with your physician before stopping use of prescription medication.**

** You are not a candidate for permanent makeup if, you have keloid scaring, are pregnant/nursing, or taking certain blood thinners. It is your responsibility to disclose any concerns regarding pre and post care to ensure the best outcome

HEALING PROCESS EXPECTATIONS

All permanent makeup procedures consists of a comprehensive process to achieve long lasting, low maintenance and optimal results. There are NO guarantees that can be made because healed results vary for each individual! We all have different skin types and conditions.

Touch Up sessions may be required for best results. We will always give our best efforts to provide you with quality service. Although, there are many factors that may cause unpredictable outcomes because each person’s skin heals differently.

Results are contingent on the following factors: post-procedure aftercare, skin type (dry, oily, sun-damaged, thick or thin skin), individual pH balance of your skin, and lifestyle preferences (e.g. exercise, alcohol consumption and smoking).

HEALING PROCESS EXPECTATIONS

  • Following the treatment, swelling and redness of the skin is completely normal and will subside within 1-2 days

  • Brand new pigment from a fresh tattoo may appear dark and much thicker than expected, while others might seem exceedingly bright (for blondes and redheads), which can appear shocking at first, but be aware that this is to be expected.

  • During the healing phase, the area and top layer will start to scab and slough off in certain places. This process is called shedding.  Comparatively, these sections may appear extremely light next to the non-shedded segments. Don’t worry, this pigment will eventually soften and settle into the appropriate shade when shedding is complete and pigment resurfaces.

  • Permanent makeup will appear 20 to 40% lighter within 7-10 days.

  • In total, it should take about 3-4 weeks for your new eyebrow pigment to resurface to its true color.

  • Some skin types retain color better than others, so we cannot guarantee a precise effect or color.

  • Average healing time is generally 7-14 days, however this will vary from person to person and will depend on several physiological factors that include age, skin type, circulation, hormonal cycles, and how easily and/or severely you swell and bruise.

LIP BLUSH AFTERCARE

For the 10 days following the tattoo procedure, wash the site gently and apply Aquaphor® multiple times per day:

  1. WASH: GENTLY (for the love of it all, be gentle!) wash with antibacterial liquid soap such as Dial® (liquid or bar form... it doesn't matter. Just use Dial soap) and water using your fingers ONLY.

  2. BLOT: Gently blot the area (do not rub or be rough) dry with a paper towel, not a regular towel.  There are so many germs in regular towels it's frightening!

  3. MASSAGE: Gently apply and massage Aquaphor® in for 15 seconds.

  • After the initial healing period (7-10 days)
use Chapstick, lip-gloss or lip balm with sun block over the tattooed area to preserve color. The continued use of at least SPF 30 sunblock with UVA and UVB protection will help to prevent fading.

  • Sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights to reduce swelling. You can take Ibuprofen or Tylenol and ice the area (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) if needed.

PERMANENT BROW
AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

DON’T WORRY, THEY WILL LIGHTEN!

  • Avoid water contact during the first 24 hours.

  • Apply a very thin layer of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab 3 times a day for 7 days. Be sure to allow brows to dry in between applications. *Applying too much ointment can clog pores and cause blemishes that can negatively impact healing. (after the 24 hours)

  • Using the fingertips (make sure to first wash hands), gently wash the area with a non-scented soap (Dial soap is my personal recommendation), morning and night, for 7 days. (after the 24 hours)

  • Avoid washcloths and scratching or picking at the tattoo during the healing process. The scabs are tremendously important as that is was holding your pigment in place until your skin is ready to reabsorb and allow the scab to fall off naturally

  • Avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, public pools, sweaty exercise, or *submerging* the tattoo in water for the first 10 days. (Showers are fine)

  • Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for 2 weeks after the tattoo.

  • Avoid putting makeup on the area for 7-14 days, or until scabbing has ran its course.

  • Avoid facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion or injectables such as botox (in and around the brow area) for 6 weeks.

NO GUARANTEES CAN BE MADE! FAILURE TO FOLLOW AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN POOR PIGMENT RETENTION/PIGMENT LOSS.

IMPORTANT NOTES ON HEALING

  • Discontinue applying ointment after peeling has completed.

  • A thin layer of dry skin will appear as your brows heal and let it naturally exfoliate away. Picking and scratching can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • Do not apply make up over healing areas.

  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area. That includes sweating/exercise, direct sun exposure, saunas, hot showers and swimming for the first 10 days. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Your face should only be getting wet at the end of the shower.

  • Avoid products containing AHAs (glycolic, lactic acids or Retin-A) on or near the brows for 4 weeks. This will only help fade the pigments.

  • Avoid sleeping ON your face for the first 10 days. Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

  • Use broad spectrum sunblock after the area has healed to slow fading.
